Gender Inclusion and Greening Initiatives for MSMEs in Goa

The Gender Inclusion and Greening Initiatives under the RAMP Programme are designed to promote inclusive, sustainable, and environmentally responsible growth of the MSME sector in Goa. This intervention focuses on strengthening women entrepreneurship and encouraging MSMEs to adopt green and sustainable business practices. Implemented by the Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce (DITC), the initiative integrates social inclusion with environmental sustainability to ensure long-term economic development.

The intervention includes the following sub-components:

  • Establishment of a Women Entrepreneurship Facilitation Cell (WEFC)
  • Capacity-building programmes for women entrepreneurs
  • Provide 50% subsidy to MSMEs for conducting water and energy audits, with a capping of Rs 50,000/- per MSME.
  • Development of Green Index to benefits MSMEs at Industrial Estates, and the creation of a Green Credit Model for all the Goan MSMEs.

Together, these initiatives aim to create a resilient MSME sector that is both socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable.

How it Works

Under this intervention, a multi-pronged approach is adopted to address gender inclusion and environmental sustainability.

  • WEFC - A dedicated Women Entrepreneurship Facilitation Cell (WEFC) has been established at the DITC office to support aspiring and existing women entrepreneurs through expert guidance across policy, technology, finance, legal, and business transformation domains. 05 experts have been deployed at WEFC, and the same is operational on the 4th floor of DITC office. Training and capacity development programmes are also conducted for aspiring/existing women MSMEs and girl students to promote entrepreneurship at an early stage. The Traning and capacity development programmes are organized by St Joans Education Society. The mandate is to train 780 candidates by FY 2026-27.
