Department of Mines and Geology
The Department of Mines and Geology (DMG) is a key governmental body responsible for mineral administration and overseeing and regulating the mining and geology sector in the state of Goa. Goa has rich mineral deposits, especially iron ore, and the department plays a pivotal role in managing the extraction, conservation, sustainable use of these resources. The Directorate of Mines & Geology also ensures compliance with rules related to prevention of illegal mining, transportation and storage of minerals. Additionally, it implements mining laws to promote transparency, responsible resource use, and sustainable development in the state.
